Putting the New AI Lyrics Generator to the Test in Band-in-a-Box 2025
Put the Band-in-a-Box 2025 AI Lyrics Generator to the test! See raw AI outputs, prompt strategies, and workflow tips for crafting the perfect song.

You’ve spent any time in Band-in-a-Box (BIAB) 2025 recently, you’ve probably noticed one of the most talked-about additions: the AI Lyrics Generator.
We’ve all been there—you have a killer backing track, the RealTracks are grooving perfectly, but when you step up to the mic, your mind goes completely blank. PG Music aims to solve this by integrating a suite of AI-driven songwriting tools right into the software. But is it actually useful, or just a gimmick?
I decided to put it to the test to see how well it works, what kind of prompts yield the best results, and how much human tweaking is actually required to get a usable song.
How to Access the Generator
First things first: you’ll need an active internet connection to use this feature. To pull it up, simply navigate to Edit | Lyrics | Open AI Lyrics Window.
The tool is divided into six distinct modes, depending on what stage of the writing process you are in:
ModeBest Used For1. Word/Phrase SuggestionsFinding rhymes, synonyms, antonyms, or alliterations for a specific word.2. Songwriting AssistantChatting back and forth to brainstorm themes or flesh out a rough idea.3. InspirationGenerating overall song themes, titles, or a complete song idea from scratch.4. Lyrics ImprovementTaking your existing, clunky lyrics and asking the AI to add better imagery or flow.5. Full Song LyricsGenerating complete lyrics tailored to a specific song form (e.g., AABA) and bar count.6. CustomAn open-ended prompt mode where you can ask the AI anything.
The Test: Writing a Modern Acoustic Blues Song
I wanted to see if the AI could handle something with a bit of grit, rather than just generic pop lyrics. I decided to use Mode 5: Full Song Lyrics, which is fantastic because it allows you to sync the lyrical output directly to the musical form of your BIAB track.
I set the parameters to generate an AABA form, specifying 4 lines per section (with each line corresponding to roughly two bars of music).
The Prompt I Used in the "Common Elements" Section:
"Write a modern acoustic blues song about a mechanic working the night shift in a quiet town. The tone should be tired but proud. Use imagery involving grease, neon lights, and the hum of an engine."
The AI’s Unedited Output:
Verse 1 (A)
The neon sign is buzzing, a flickering shade of red,
I've got grease upon my fingers and an ache inside my head.
The town is fast asleep now, not a single soul in sight,
Just me and this old engine in the middle of the night.
Verse 2 (A)
Wrench turns on the metal, a heavy, rusted sound,
I’m the only one still working in this quiet little town.
My back is feeling broken, but my hands are feeling strong,
Listening to the pistons sing a lonely midnight song.
Bridge (B)
They bring me all their broken parts, the things they couldn’t save,
I resurrect the metal from a silent, oily grave.
It doesn’t pay a fortune, and it doesn't bring me fame,
But I know every motor, and I know them all by name.
Verse 3 (A)
The sun is finally rising, cutting through the dark,
I wipe my hands clean on a rag and leave my little mark.
The engine purrs like magic, ready for the street,
Another night shift conquered on my own two tired feet.
How Much Human Editing Was Required?
Honestly? The output was surprisingly cohesive. The AI followed the AABA structure perfectly, and the rhythm of the words lined up well with a standard 12/8 blues shuffle. However, it still felt a little too polished and polite for a blues track.
Here is where the human element comes in. To make it a real song, I had to dirty it up a bit and change the phrasing so it rolled off the tongue better for a vocalist.
My Edits (Example on Verse 1):
- Original Line: "The neon sign is buzzing, a flickering shade of red / I've got grease upon my fingers and an ache inside my head."
- My Edit: "Neon buzzing heavy, throwing shadows painted red / Got grease beneath my fingernails, heavy bones and heavy head."
I also used Mode 1: Word/Phrase Suggestions a few times. When I didn't like the word "conquered" in the last verse (it felt too triumphant for a tired mechanic), I highlighted it in the user scratchpad, ran Mode 1, and found alternatives, eventually changing the line to: "Another night shift buried, standing on my own two feet."
Final Thoughts
The BIAB 2025 AI Lyrics Generator is not going to replace your creative soul, nor should it. If you copy and paste the raw output, your songs will likely sound structurally sound but slightly hollow.
However, as a co-writer, it is incredibly powerful. The ability to tell the software exactly how many bars and lines you need, get a structurally perfect draft, and then mold it using the Lyrics Improvement and Word Suggestion modes speeds up the songwriting workflow tremendously.
It takes the terror out of the blank page so you can get back to playing the music.
